It is March 1st and I think the birds know it, because they are singing so cheerfully today! It's a gorgeous 57˚ and the first day of spring is a mere 3 weeks away! Spring equinox or not– I say that spring is beginning! I know this because stink bugs have started to appear in my house and we suddenly have tiny ants in our bathroom– ew. Not pleasant, but it's the truth. The happy ways I know it's spring are the facts that the buds on the lilacs are green and ready to get going, the crocuses are in full bloom, all of the other bulb flowers are starting to elbow their way up to the sunlight, and I have laundry on the line! I am definitely feeling exhilarated today and I hope you are too! There is just nothing more energizing than the promise of spring.

I thought I'd catch you up on what's been happening around here over the winter–

"Snow-zilla" hit in January. We had about 21" at our house and Trevor was loving it! Lance left a little track down our driveway so Trevor could ride down it on an old, beat up toboggan; our driveway is the best hill we have. It may look like he's flying in the pictures but Lance was pulling the sled and it was going little more than turtle speed =] He just couldn't get enough of it.

Lance & his dad are still working on finishing our basement! This is now a year-long project and we are so excited to wrap it up! Not sure exactly when it'll be done, but it's looking so real now!

Trevor and I have had lots of inside fun... and outside fun. I am reminded so frequently how thankful I am that I get to be a stay-at-home-mom. Just the little [seemingly] insignificant moments I get to observe warm my heart and soul so very much. I am so blessed to not miss a moment of my little man's life– the good, bad & ugly... this is worth so much more to me than what a steady second income could ever be.

My sister and I took a watercolor class from the fabulous Rachel Mahan! It was just one evening but it was so fun and relaxing! I've admired watercolor art for a long time and I've wished for so long that I knew how to paint with watercolors. I know Rachel from church and I've seen her beautiful work, so I asked if she'd be interested in teaching two beginners! We had so much fun learning the basics! On the right is my finished work. My first real watercolor  =]  I've got a long way to go but I'm excited to get there!

Well, my second load of laundry is ready to be put on the line– Thanks so much for reading!
